The irony is that he is quoted saying that on the American Express homepage.

OVERVIEW of American Express -
The story of American Express is not a very fascinating one, filled with high powered and greedy executives who -- through a combination of lots of delegation, massive layoffs, and luck -- kept the company going.
The company began as one that shipped freight and valuables and then transformed into a company that dealt with financial products like credit cards and travelers checks. Today, American Express is imploding right before our eyes. The company has resorted to corporate cannibalism and corporate infantilism occasionally over the to continue
Following an era of international expansion, the company became an entity perhaps best known for its credit cards. Today, American Express is a global payments company.
THE BEGINNING OF American Express
American Express was originally established in 1850 in New York and was among the first express delivery businesses to appear during the westward expansion of the U.S. The U.S.P.S. at the time was expensive, nonexistent in many areas, and usually slow.
Even though in American Express was not a financial services company in its early years, its largest and most regular clients were banks. Delivering the banks’ stock certificates, currency, and other financial documents – was considerably more profitable than transporting larger freight. Soon the company would scale back its delivery business in order to start competing in the financial market.
THE BEGINNING OF the American Expense
American Expense was established in 2009 when American Express began to do what they do best: SCREW PEOPLE OVER. Whether it is their employees or customers, American Express has had a long history of giving employees and clients, the short end of the stick. It is finally time to stand up for what you believe in and tell this corporation what they are doing to your budget is NOT acceptable.
American Express recently cut its Blue Card's cash back policy from 1.5% to 1.25%. And all AmEx customers who make a late payment will no longer accrue points on their purchases -- however, those points can be reinstated with a $29 fee. If you are a victim of this, feel free to contact Mr. Chenault, American Express' CEO to express your disgust.
Companies like American Express have just found multiple ways to circumvent the new CARD Act that President Obama passed, in order to continue making their ridiculous profits. I sincerely doubt that Obama has to worry about his interest rate being hiked, his credit limit being slashed, his rewards being cut, or accruing late fees.
